Nia will always hold a special place in my heart...a paper ballerina born out of my imagination. Sheet music is so beautiful...and filled with so much promise and magic...that I have always felt compelled to design with it. I wanted to tell the story of a ballerina who became the music and dance. Nia stands 7 feet tall with an 8 foot diameter to her skirt. She was made using hundreds of pages of folded sheet music. The bodice of her gown is covered in a glitter treatment over the sheet music. Under her skirting she is fully lit, so at night the gown illuminates the objects on the table. She was on display during the Russian National Ballet Tour that performed at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.
